Patrons of Seattle Gay Bars Threatened

Eleven gay and lesbian bars in Seattle have received letters threatening that some patrons may be poisoned. They claim that the attacks will start this Saturday.

According the Advocate.com the letters included the following statement.

I have in my possession approximately 67 grams of ricin with which I will indiscriminately target at least five of your clients. ... I expect them to die painfully while in hospital.

The Elite, Neighbours, The Wildrose Bar, The Cuff, Purr, The Seattle Eagle, R Place, Re-bar, C.C.Attle's, Madison Pub and The Crescent were singled out for the attacks.

I really hope the authorities catch the person(s) responsible for writing the letters.

Caprica Preview

Looks like the Sci-Fi Channel's prequel to BSG is going to show us a Caprica that looks like a technologically advanced Roman civilization. The following clip does point out that it's all taking place in a holographic program, but come on what goes on in the holo-suite is bound to happen in real life.

Anyway the clip does feature Eric Stoltz looking as sexy as ever.

An Animoto Christmas

I finally got around to uploading a few of my Christmas pictures to Animoto.com to make a short video.

Yes, I know... I should have done the earlier. At least I'm not posting this in the middle of June.

I'll try and get things like this posted earlier next time.

Another Christmas is Over

Hunter_christmas_2008Christmas is over for another year. I'm kind of sad to see it go. There's nothing as enjoyable as watching a kid opening and enjoying their presents.

This was the first time in way too many years that I've been able to spend Christmas with my family. The last time I got to do that was when it fell in the middle of the week. Working for an airline means that I don't always get to spend major holidays with my family. Even with 14 years with the company, I have to wait until Christmas falls during the week so it can line up with my days off from work. In my department you need to have at least 20 years of seniority to be scheduled holiday off.

The one thing I really enjoyed about this Christmas was getting to spend it with my nephew. He'll be four years old in a few months, so there is a special joy that comes from spending it with someone so young. They haven't yet had the joy of Santa taken away from them. This was the first time I got to spend the holiday with him, and he was so excited to see what Santa brought him.

The lucky little guy actually had two visits from Santa.

The first one was at my mom's house on Christmas Eve. My sister and I had Christmas dinner that night with our mom. Before dinner my sister took my nephew to see some holiday lights and Santa paid him a special visit there. His favorite present was the race track you see. He was such a good boy that night while we ate. Even though he couldn't wait to get down from the table and have me play race car with him, he somewhat patiently sat there waiting for all of us to be done. The second my plate was empty he looked at me and asked, "are you done?" We had to tell him we were going to have dessert first. After that plate was cleared he then asked, "you done now?" How could I make him wait any longer. :)

The second visit was at his house. He stayed the night with me and my mom. He wanted to stay with us to play with his race cars. So we told him the only way we could do that was to call Santa on his super secret private cell phone number so he would know which house to go to.

Of course his race cars was all he was thinking about the next morning. It took a little while to convince him we needed to go to his house.

Then to top it all off, the lucky kid had two more Christmas visits to make. My sister and I took him down to our dad's so he could get his present from him. Then we all headed over to one of my aunt's so we could spend they rest of the day with aunts, uncles and cousins.

While I wish there was a way that we could all experience that kind of joy year round, I am glad that Christmas is finally over. I can't wait until he starts getting older. Mainly because I have more of an idea what to get a kid over the age of about five or so.

I've got my photos up over at Flickr. I couldn't believe how good my dad looked dressed up as Santa. He told me he starts growing his beard out in July so it will be nice and full by Christmas time. What's really sad is this might be his last year to play Santa for the kids. He isn't doing to well health wise, and by the time all the pictures were taken and presents opened, he was pretty worn out. Hopefully he'll still be able to spend Christmas with kids in the coming years, but I doubt it will be as Santa.

Happy Holidays

Before I head out to my mom's, I thought I would just stop by and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. I'm going to be away from a computer while I'm there, so now seemed as good as time as any to spread some holiday cheer.

This will be the first time in about 10 years that I've been able to see my mom on Christmas. Working for an airline kind of gets in the way of celebrating holidays sometimes. Luckily I was able to get my schedule set up so I am off on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

What I'm really looking forward to is this will be the first Christmas I get to spend with my nephew. I'll actually get to be there when he opens his presents from me. The little guy will be four years old in a few months, so it should be a lot of fun spending the day with him.

If any of you are traveling by air tomorrow I hope the weather doesn't prevent you from getting on your flights. A Twitter friend of mine is traveling from Chicago tomorrow and luckily his flight is still scheduled to operate. I'll tell you the same thing I told him. Plan on arriving to the airports early tomorrow. Most flights are overbooked due to the weather snafu from the previous couple of days, and just the normal holiday traffic.

Also if you do have to wait in line because of a flight cancellation, go ahead and call your airline while waiting. Sometimes the reservations can have everything all set up for you by the time you get up to the ticket agent. Also keep in mind that all those poor airport agents are doing everything they can to help make sure you get to your final destination as quickly as possible, but it may be a little hard given the flight loads. I know it's frustrating for you as a traveler when your flight is delayed or canceled. It's also frustrating for the airport agents when they can't find a seat for you an another flight. Please try to give them a little smile and a "thank you." That goes a long way in improving their day. Sadly it won't make a seat suddenly appear, but it will make the experience a lot more pleasant for everyone involved.

Okay, getting off my soap box now. Let me just say I'm glad I don't work at the airport during this time of year.

So Merry Christmas, be safe and enjoy yourselves.
