For all the queer nerds out there, it's old news that Stan Lee is bringing Perry Moore's Hero
to the small screen. I first read about it either at the chaser blog or Pink Kryptonite back in November.
Now the news has finally hit more mainstream GLBT sites. Joe. My. God. blogged it today. The story has even made it onto gaywired.com.
The one thing that is incorrect about the reporting of this, is that it will be the first gay superhero. Joe. My. God. pointed this out, and I'm glad to see gaywired didn't mention it. But come on people, all you have to do is just check the superhero over at Wikipedia to see that this won't be the first queer hero.
For those not familiar with Perry Moore's book, Hero is really a superhero love story. It tells the story of high school student Thom Creed. Not only is Thom having to accept his queerness, he's also having to accept that he's got super powers. Over the course of the story, Thom meets boy, Thom looses boy, and finally Thom and boy reunite and save the world.
